Beijing Opera Art’s College (BOAC) is the only independent higher vocational college of art in Beijing. The predecessor of the college, founded in 1952, was the Beijing Private Art Training School. In 2002, Beijing Opera Art’s College was officially established to provide full-time higher vocational education. At present, it has 360 employees and 222 full-time teachers, including 14 professors and 56 associate professors. The college recruits students nationwide and offers a range of programs including Peking Opera, local opera, music, dance, artistic design and film and television performance. Having developed from an opera school to a comprehensive art college, more than 7,000 art talents have graduated from BOAC. In January 2019, the college was rated as a high-level vocational college with Beijing characteristics.

Festivals and temple fairs are an integral part of life for people in Beijing. People always look forward to festivals and temple fairs as if they are stopover points in time. They are a time of celebration, where people enjoy traditional culture and entertain themselves to feel refreshed for life and work ahead. That’s why the lecture is titled “Festival customs and cultural connotation of the Beijing Spring Festival”. Running from the Laba Festival to the Lantern Festival, the Beijing Spring Festival is a series of festivals bidding farewell to the old year and ushering in the new. With diverse customs and rich connotation, it expresses people's good wishes at the turn of the year.

The event takes place in collaboration with Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Tallinn Culture Department and EAMT.
