Violent Magic Orchestra make their Estonia debut at Hungr, unleashing a 5000W audiovisual assault where techno, black metal, gabber, and noise collide into an extreme rave experience.

Formed in Japan, VMO operate at the volatile intersection of underground club culture and extreme metal, merging corpse paint and blast beats with the force of electronic music—often described as Aphex Twin colliding with Mayhem. Their sound spans techno, industrial, noise, gabber, and contemporary composition, forming what feels closer to an “extreme art music” project than a conventional band.

Their debut Catastrophic Anonymous on Virgin Babylon Records featured collaborators like Chip King and Attila Csihar, later reaching a global audience via Throatruiner Records. Releases like Principle of Light Speed Invariance on Never Sleep pushed further into rave territory while expanding their network across experimental and extreme scenes.

Renowned for overwhelming live intensity, VMO’s 5000W performances blur the line between concert, rave, and immersive installation, combining aggressive sound design with large-scale visuals. They’ve appeared at festivals including Roadburn Festival, CTM Festival, Sónar, and Roskilde Festival.

Beyond the stage, they work across disciplines—collaborating with artists like Yuen Hsieh and intersecting with wider platforms alongside acts such as Babymetal and Ryoji Ikeda.

Their 2024 album Death Rave on Never Sleep, featuring Kælan Mikla, Dylan Walker, and Gabber Modus Operandi, pushes their vision further into a dense, high-impact audiovisual domain.

At its core, VMO is less a band than a total sensory experience—a collision of rave euphoria and black metal extremity where sound, light, and concept merge into something overwhelming, confrontational, and ecstatic.
